“I couldn't have been happier <looking after a dog>!” These wagnificent words, which co-founder Rikke shared in the pawsome Essentials Magazine feature, is how she came up with the idea for the BorrowMyDoggy community.
Just like some of our Borrowers, Rikke found that a “dream of owning a dog remained just out of reach”...
She was so happy to look after a neighbour's adorable chocolate Labrador, Aston, back in July 2012. It then occurred to her….“Surely loads of dog-owners need help caring for their dogs and there must be lots of people who’d love a dog, but just can’t offer a full-time home.”
Soon enough, she met our other co-founder, Les (otherwise know as Tech Puppy). They put together a website and were overwhelmingly happy when eighty five people signed-up in just three days.
Fast forward 18 months and now BorrowMyDoggy is now up and running with a wagtastic dog-loving team, and thousands of lovely new members (2 and 4 legged) signing up every week.
“The job satisfaction is almost overwhelming. We’re not just a website, we’re a community where animal-lovers meet”, Rikked shared with Essentials.
