Golden Acre Park
With lots of dog walking routes to choose from and over 135 acres of parkland to explore, Golden Acre Park is a great place to visit with your furry friend. It’s renowned for its wonderful gardens, popular tea rooms and circular lakeside walk.
The parkland is home to birds, deer, fox, rabbits and squirrels and the ornamental gardens feature waterfalls, a fountain, a courtyard and display house. The stunning scenery makes a great background for a picnic! Adjacent to the park is Breary Marsh Local Nature Reserve, a haven for wildlife and conservation site.
Roundhay Park
Home to Tropical World, one of the UK's most popular garden tourist attractions, Roundhay Park is a hub of activity that will keep you and your dog entertained all day. Covering over 700 acres of parkland, lakes and woodland, the park is one of the largest urban parks in the world.
The park is located in the north east of the city and you can download a map of the park here so you won’t get lost in this vast outdoor playground. With free parking, picnic areas and lots of off-lead area for your dog, there’s something for everyone at Roundhay Park.
Middleton Park
Described by the local council as “the green jewel of South Leeds”, Middleton Park is a mixture of traditional parkland and woods. Just a few miles south of the City Centre, a third of the park’s 630 acres is made up of ancient woodland.
The park is home to the world’s oldest working railway - Middleton Railway - which was founded in 1758. The park has lots of history and plenty of events for everyone to enjoy, including music concerts, plays, walks and sports (there are two golf courses on site!)
Temple Newsam
There’s plenty of space around this huge country mansion, which is perfect for dog walks with your furry friend - 1,500 acres of space to be precise. Described as one of the best stately homes in Britain, the parkland surrounding Temple Newsam can be enjoyed by dog, owner and borrower alike.
The Rhododendron Walk and Lakeside Gardens are a must for visitors. There are three lakes, all with a different feel to them, and an abundance of beautiful greenery to inspire even the most reluctant horticulturist!
Bramley Fall Woods
80 acres of beautiful woodland backing onto the Leeds Liverpool Canal is in store on a visit to Bramley Fall Woods. Whether you and your dog prefer a walk along the water or a trail through the trees, you’ll find it in this wonderful West Yorkshire woodland.
A large network of paths means you can do a different route every time you visit, but don’t worry about getting lost as there are maps throughout the woods and the whole are is well signposted. Visiting in Spring? Don’t miss out on the bluebell walk!
Ardsley Reservoir
